GoVirtual.org is great new community site for academics and others research virtualization technologies. The site is devoted to the research and advancement of virtualization topics including:
- Hardware Virtualization
- Energy and Cost Savings
- Security
- Grid Computing
- IT Resource Management
- Virtualization Software
This is a community site which enables the sharing of ideas, case studies, and white papers with the goal of accelerating the advancement of virtualization technologies. GoVirtual.org is underwritten by VMware (if I were only so lucky). According to Mendel Rosenblum of VMware: “Research and education on virtualization is hugely important to the future of computation as we know it. Researchers and academics need a virtual community in which to share ideas, materials, and advance their work at a faster pace than might otherwise be possible.”
It will be interesting to see if Microsoft, Citrix, and others take part in the VMware-owned and controlled community.
GoVirtual.org is supposed to be open to all virtualization platforms, technologies, and features. I think it has the potential to be a great resource for learning about the latest in Virtualization technologies. Have you GoVirtual.org? Is the site valuable to you and why? Please let me know.
